Starter systems are about what you can do – not what you can’t
Some people are disappointed when their finances don’t allow them to buy a system that will provide all, or even most, of the power their home needs. ‘Why buy anything?’ they think.
We respectfully suggest that you ask another question: What if every single-family home “only” had a Switch starter system?
In Montgomery County, the total amount of power available would exceed 1212 megawatts, which was almost 10% of PEPCO’s peak demand in 2008 for its entire system. These panels would generate more than 774,337 megawatt-hours of electric energy, which is:
- Almost 20 times the total amount of wind energy being purchased by Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and 11 municipalities
- More than the total annual electric requirement of the Montgomery County government
The “typical” home in PEPCO’s service area uses 850 kilowatt-hours (kWs) of electricity each month for a total of 10,200 kWhs a year. Our starter system will generate approximately 1,282Whs per year (12% of the average home’s annual needs).
Equally important, this system is specifically designed to grow. By planning ahead, we can either size the inverter for the eventual finished size of your system or use microinverters, which enable you to add a panel at a time.
A starter system can make a difference!
